Travelling Bag update
Wahoo! All the fabric has arrived :) I found some upholstery linen for the outside and the interior and lining linen has arrived and is in the washing machine! Now for the zip, which is predictably more difficult to find!

Travelling bag
Most of the credit for some of the inspiration for this post comes from this bag which I found on pinterest and another blog - http://donisdelis.blogspot.co.uk/ .
So..... when we were on holiday a year or so ago we kept finding that the bags we had brought with us for sightseeing were just wrong!
The rucksack my husband had brought was too big/heavy/cumbersome.
My bag didn't have enough pockets to carry/separate 'stuff', have a secure pocket for money or passports, or wasn't light enough or strong enough.
I was quite envious of a woman who had a bag with lots of zip pockets and was made of a kind of ripstop fabric, strong but light and quick to dry, but her bag couldn't have been used sightseeing and then out to dinner, by me at least!!!
So the list of what we wanted kept getting longer and I had to dream up something!
Today I started on the first trial, I do suspect there maybe more!!!
I have lengthen the strap to make the bag work cross-body, but I have an idea to be able to shorten the strap to use it as a normal shoulder bag. I have left the outside as it was, nice and simple, but there are lots of different pockets on the inside, some with zips to make sure they are secure. There will also be a zip to close off the whole opening, to be technical it will be a 'Two Way Closed End Head To Head zip', but all that means is there are 2 sliders and they open from the middle of the zip!
So now I have to go and find fabric!!!!

ooops!!! and interfacing information
I haven't posted for a while, life seems to have taken over from sewing which is always a little scary!!!
Anyway, I don't know about other people but I think there is a dearth of information from interfacing manufacturers with products available in the UK, masses for the USA but not for here. So I've been doing a hunt and here is a link to the vilene product information.

As and when I find other information I'll post it!

Progress......
I've made this 'dress' in two parts. Well, there are more than two because it's a sample, so there are overlays so I can make it look different. But the skirt is finished, yippee!!!!
Here it is on my form.
Here it is on my form.
There's 2 layers of interlining so it looks very full.
The bustier is awaiting a zip, so no photos of that yet.
However the lace bodice overlay is well on it's way................
....but as it is now past finishing time that is all that is happening today, Wednesday. It only has to be finished before Saturday, tomorrow is busy day doing other stuff and I still have to make an organza bustle or two!!!!
No pressure!

sewing sewing
Well, I did promise my daughter her Chanel Jacket, but it's had to be put on hold! I have been forgiven, because I've got a deadline for making a sample dress and 'option' bits. So I have been sewing at a frantic rate.
Here, as a taster, is a photo of the silk and the lace I am using. There is more to come!!!!
